Meet baby June. This little girl was just 12 days old when we photographed her and her parents in my home studio in NE Portland. Every session is different and we always go at baby's pace, doing only what he/she will allow us to do, and never forcing a baby into a position it doesn't feel comfortable in. Little June let us move her all over, swaddling her in lace, dressing her in tutus and headbands, and even posing her in several different baskets and positions. I think my favorite, though, was watching her snuggle all cuddled up with her dad. We placed little June on her daddy's chest and immediately you could tell she felt right at home. Her cheeks squished up, her bum stuck out, baby snores ensued, and we all couldn't help but smile at such a sweet bundle of cuteness.
Baby Freya - Portland Newborn Photography
Little Freya was just 8 days old when these photos were captured. I got to spend an afternoon in my studio with Freya, her mom, dad, and grandma, and learn all about the history of their family while shooting. Freya is such a beautifully unique name so, natually, I was curious how they picked it. Freya's dad, Robert, explained the comical story of how he initially wanted a boy. His mother is Danish so he really wanted to give his baby a traditional norse name in honor of her heritage. Thor was the intended name for a boy, but after they found out they were having a little girl, his heart swelled and he couldn't have been more happy with the surprise. In the end, they decided to name her after the norse god Thor's sister, Freya, and they've been overwhelmed with joy ever since.

Portland Newborn Photography - Baby Maxwell
Little Maxwell was only 9 days old when these photos were captured. Maxwell's daddy is a huge Dodgers fan, so we thought it would be fun to theme the session around his love of the team. Little Maxwell may not know it yet, but I think he's already a Dodger's fan too based on how comfortable he looks sleeping soundly in a bucket of baseballs with his little LA hat. Maxwell's dad is already ready with his custom bat and pitcher's glove. I see many games of catch in the front yard with this little fella.
Baby Ayla - Portland Newborn Session
Little Ayla was just 10 days old when I photographed her and her beautiful family. Lynette & Omar are such a gorgeous couple, it’s no wonder little Ayla turned out so cute!! Grandma’s from both sides traveled long distances to see their first grandchild from Omar & Lynette, and to be a part of Ayla’s newborn session. It was refreshing to see extended family so close-knit, and happy just to be together. What a wonderful and sweet family you have. Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Little Ayla is so very lucky to have you all!
